Interreg“Joint Educational Futures” the Interreg IVa programme EU funded project, being led by Hove Park School, is now successfully into it’s second year with hundreds of young people and scores of teachers from Brighton and Hove participating in a wide range of educational and cultural exchanges with Northern France.  Local project partners are: Hove Park School, Blatchington Mill School, City College Brighton & Hove, Varndean School, and Falmer Academy.  Our partners in France are a network of educational establishments led by the Rectorat of the Rouen Académie in the region of Haute-Normandie including Lycée Les Bruyères and Lycée G Baptiste in Rouen and Collège Delvincourt in Dieppe.

This academic year we are offering another round of exciting and innovative educational activities to enable students to improve their language and enterprise skills, enhance their employability, study environmental sustainability and practise a more ecological lifestyle.   There are nine intercultural student exchanges involving students from all of the partner schools with curriculum themes ranging from Tourism, Business, ICT, English, Science, Geography and History through to Catering & Hospitality.  Each exchange offers a range of educationally stimulating visits and experiences on both sides of the channel with the added excitement of visits to London and Paris.

The next exchanges for Hove Park students take place in March & May 2010 for students in years 10, 11, 12 and 13, at the discretion of the school. (Priority must be given to public examinations and examination work). Application Form.

The project has also enabled heavy investment into the latest technologies including videoconferencing communication for students and staff and more recently four mobile classroom netbook facilities.

The most recent staff seminar took place in Rouen in December 2009 to further develop a new platform of cross-channel communication via a joint project website.
