On Thursday, 9th November, the U14 girls football team travelled to Warden Park to play in the 3rd round of the ESFA National Cup. After the upset of getting knocked out of the County Cup on Tuesday, the team were in high spirits and keen to ensure they didn’t exit a second cup this week.
A change of formation seemed to work and the team started brightly with a goal inside the first 5 minutes of the game. The girls were spurred on by this and started to dominate with constant pressure on the Warden Park defence. Attack after attack was created with excellent passing in the midfield. However, our strike force was thwarted time and again by an extremely efficient goal keeper. Finally, the second goal came from a lovely through ball and excellent finish with a 3rd soon after. Half time and we were 3-0 up.
The second half saw much of the same. Hove Park were confident and playing the best football they have played this season. They dominated possession and were rewarded with a further 2 goals before the full time whistle. Final score: 5-0.
This was an outstanding whole team performance, with every player doing their job. Positions were held well and the passing and communication between the players was excellent. Well done to Bertie, Bonnie, Keira, Gemma, Flo, Molly, Lottie, Bella, Ella, Jess, Siena, Stella, Tabby and Katie.
Goals from Tabby (3), Jess and Siena.
