University of Brighton mentoring programme

Thirteen students from Year 10 and 11 who identify as Black, Asian or from a Minority Ethnic background recently took part in a six week mentoring programme, run in conjunction with the University of Brighton and we have seen some fantastic results supporting our students to meet their academic targets, envision and take steps towards their career aspirations and increased confidence. Brighton and Hove is not as diverse as a lot of places in the United Kingdom, which is something BAME students noticed immediately when they here for their studies. It was very valuable for our students to spend time with peers and role models to explore their experiences as a young person from a black or minority background in Brighton and Hove.
