Philosophy & Religious Education

All students study this course as part of their core curriculum throughout their time at the school. One aim of the course is to enable students to gain knowledge and understanding of philosophy, ethics and the main world religions, in order to help them to develop and shape their own beliefs and convictions, express them with humility and live them out in a globalised world. As one means to do this, we aim to help students to think critically and analyse and evaluate arguments effectively. Our aim is also to help develop the capacity in students to understand and empathise with the experience and beliefs of others in an atmosphere of mutual tolerance and respect and so be able to live and flourish in a local and globalised community.
