Food Fairs
Students from Equalities groups from Years 7 to 11 organised an international food fair today as a celebration of diversity and to raise money for our school prom. The variety of food on offer was nothing short of spectacular, and many students enjoyed wearing traditional clothing from different cultures.
The event was a really lovely way to mark the end of Year 11's last Equalities event at Hove Park. They have been a truly inspirational group of young people who have taken student leadership to new levels and should be exceptionally proud of the way they organised the festival and the way they conducted themselves. Hopefully, they will be back to visit for future events!
Christmas fair
The Year 7 and 8 Equalities teams celebrated the start of December by holding a Christmas Fair on Friday. The students were raising money for local food banks. There was a fantastic array of festive baked goods, games, tombola, raffle, and second-hand sales. Overall, we raised over £200, and a great time was had by all! Thanks so much to all the families who supported this event.
Bake Sales
The Year 7 and 8 equalities group held a Rainbow Bake sale to celebrate LGBT+ history month today. There was a fantastic array of colourful cakes and much singing and dancing! Students raised £136 for Stonewall, an organisation that advocates for and supports the rights of the LGBT+ community. Huge thanks to all students and families who supported this event.
AMEX Workshops
Students from the Year 7 and Year 8 Equalities group attended their third diversity workshop in partnership with AMEX today. The theme was anti-racism, and students discussed stereotypes, discrimination and how to be an ally. Their behaviour was exemplary, and the volunteers from AMEX were impressed with their maturity and sensitivity. Well done to all students involved for being great ambassadors for the school.
