Sparx Reader

Sparx Reader is an online reading platform that helps students to practise reading regularly, to set them up for success at secondary school and in life beyond.
Sparx Reader is a central part of our Hove Park School Literacy Strategy. Students are given a Reading Test at the start and end of each academic year. This test result then informs Sparx Reader of the reading level of each child. Students are then given access to a wide range of EBooks – via the Sparx Reader on line learning platform – to choose from. As students read each section of the EBook, they are given comprehension questions. Each student is expected to complete a specific amount of reading each week and earn a set number of points – through careful and accurate reading. Reading regularly will unlock the Sparx Reader Gold Reader – where students can also read their own paperback book whilst engaging in the Sparx Reader learning platform.
